FAS team spirit:
Flight training is tough, but the first thing you notice here is the amazing team spirit. The people I train with aren't just classmates anymore. They have become real friends. We spend hours together in the student lounge, long after our flights are done. You will find us looking over maps, trying to figure out tricky weather patterns, practicing emergency steps, or just talking about how our day went. We are all going through the same hard training, and that shared goal brings us together. We don't just study in the same room; we actually help each other succeed.
FAS Instructors:
But what really makes this academy stand out and what proves I made the right choice, is the support from the instructors. At a lot of schools, the teachers are gone the second you leave the building. Here, it’s not just a 9-to-5 job. The instructors truly have an open-door policy. We can actually pick up the phone and call them whenever we need help. Whether I’m struggling to understand airplane aerodynamics late at night before a test, or I just need some honest advice about how my flying is progressing, I know they will answer. Knowing your teachers care that much about your success gives you a huge boost of confidence. You never feel alone in this training.
Safety first:
Before we even start the engine, everything is about focus and safety. The pre-flight briefing with my instructor is a one-on-one meeting where we look closely at the weather, plan our route, and check the wind limits. It is a time to clear my head and leave all outside distractions on the ground. Then comes the walkaround. Running my hands along the airplane, checking the moving parts, and inspecting the machine is a quiet, careful process. You are making sure the aircraft is totally safe and ready to fly.
Takeoff experience:
Then comes the takeoff. Pushing the throttle forward and feeling the power of the plane is an incredible feeling. The exact moment the wheels leave the runway, all the heavy stress of studying just disappears. As the ground drops away, it is just you, the controls, and the open sky. Up there, practicing maneuvers and reading the instruments, you feel a kind of freedom that makes all the hard work totally worth it.
After flight / Debriefing Room:
Coming back down to earth means getting back to the goal of improving. After parking the plane and securing it, we head into the debriefing room. This is where the most important learning happens. Because we have such a good, friendly relationship with our instructors, these meetings aren't scary or stressful. We look closely at everything we did, every turn, every radio call, and every choice, so that tomorrow's flight will be even better and safer than today's.
End of the day/ Homework:
Leaving the airport doesn’t mean the work stops. A good workout at the gym helps me burn off the extra energy from flying and clear my mind. When I finally get home, the thick aviation books open up again. The studying never really stops, the tests are hard, and the standards are high. But when you are surrounded by friends who share your dream, and backed by instructors who always answer the phone, every page turned brings the right seat of an airliner closer. This is a huge challenge, but with a real aviation family behind you, the sky is just the beginning.
